Have You Seen This Boat?

Many of you have written about your experiences with the historic sailboat, Niña.  It is not surprising people have stories to tell, since the Niña was built in 1928, and started winning races the first year she was launched, including the Fastnet race which years later would claim the lives of valiant sailors.  As a consolation for the 1978 tragedy, that Fastnet race was the beginning of better life support equipment, including life raft stowage and supreme construction.  Those changes may be what has given the Niña 7 the best crack at survival.

We believe the Niña is in this picture from
the David Dyche facebook page.  We are looking for a better
picture from the top down.

We are searching for a photograph from the top down to the decks.  Despite the thousands of photographs of the Niña, I have not seen a single top down pic.  Someone somewhere must have one.

Please forward to us if you have one or have seen one.  The search for the Niña continues.  It would be helpful to have a top-down profile for our satellite search which is in process.

You can send those to immigrants2bfree@gmail.com, please mark in the header Niña because I get a million emails a day!~

How can a crew survive this much time floating around in the currents of the Tasman Sea?  It is hard, but possible.  There is a lot of rainwater.  Turtle blood doubles as hydration in a pinch.  You can also drink your own recycled water, at least for awhile.  Fish are plentiful.  All it takes is an adventurous spirit.  The Niña crew has that in spades!

Personally, speaking for myself only, and no one else, if the Niña is still afloat, her crew is in the hands of the public.  Great effort has been spent in encouraging officials to do what they are charged to do.  The only voice left is your voice.  We encourage you to use it HERE.  You can also vote with a buck, as the private search to do the job the professionals should have done is costing an absolute mint.  The staff at Sailing Savoir Faire hopes an even better method for reaching out to people in charge will soon come into play.  Each of you has a lot to do with that.

Oracle Team Fighting For Survival!

Oracle Team has fallen hopelessly behind the New Zealand team.  All the Emirates Team NZ needs is two more wins.  If those come today, the planned press conference will turn into a final award of the America's Cup.

Oracle Team is defending the Cup.  New Zeland is on it's toes, the entire nation of 4 million anxious for any news.  Oracle Team inched closer to making this an even race with one win during the past race day.  However, they needed both wins to keep the Kiwi's from marching to victory.

The video is of the Luis Vuitton Cup, which helped the Kiwi's practice their style!

Stay tuned to Sailing Savoir Faire for news about the America's Cup and the quest of two nation's to win the Cup.  The Kiwi's push for a steal, while the U.S. Oracle Team seeks to keep the Cup here in the U.S.

NEWS OF THE MISSING RACING SCHOONER THE NINA!

Volunteers continue to work on the search for the Nina.  Official government efforts halted on July 5th, 2013.  The family believes the sailors are on a disabled yacht, floating in the reverse circular currents of the Tasman Sea.  Eventually, the boat will float to Australia or New Zealand.  Past boats which took this route have floated for up to a year.

You can help find the Nina on satellite images taken by Digital Globe and served on a crowd sourcing site called Tomnod.
Why not find the Nina HERE and put your name in the history books?

America's Cup A Tough Challenge

The U.S. defender Oracle Team USA is in for a tough fight. The Emirates Team New Zealand is up two races after today's exciting run.

Over 28,500 fans came out to Peer 27-28 Saturday, September 7th, 2013, to cheer for their favorite team. Fans lined the raceway in boats. Another 16 thousand fans watched the start of the race at the Marina Green. The start of the race was framed by the San Francisco City Scape, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and the Bay Bridge.

Hollywood actors Jeremy Renner and Chris Tucker were among the fans. Chris Tucker met Jimmy Spithill's ORACLE TEAM USA crew before the start of the race.  Although the American team lost both races on Saturday, Tucker was upbeat.

"They did a great job. Put me on the back tomorrow!" said the actor/comedian, known for his roles in the Rush Hour movies.

America's Cup chief executive Stephen Barclay said, "We've already had half a million visitors to the America's Cup during the Summer of Racing."

Sailing is a magical sport and enjoying a resurgence despite the current recession.  Sailboats are priced far below the market of a few years ago.  The America's Cup reflects the love of the sport, as well as an American tradition.

 NEEDED TO SAVE NINA 7

Search Updates:

EVXX.COM

Texas Equusearch and their families have been working triple time to save the seven sailors aboard the 1928 national treasure, the Nina.

A shore search was performed looking for Nina wreckage.  None was found.

The U.S. State Department has blocked the TES effort to search for the seven people aboard this historic racing yacht.  We ask for your support in two ways:

1.  Please call the Department of State and ask them to to cooperate with Texas Equuserch in the hunt for the Nina and her crew, (202)-647-4000;

2.  Please make a small donation so the private search for the Nina can continue.

Ralph Baird, Executive Search Advisor, uses high tech to find people

All we ask is for America to come together in support of the sanctity of seven lives.

Some of these great sailors have contributed wonderful things to our world.  Retired professor Evi Nemeth helped thousands of people understand the computer language Linux.  Matthew Wootton advocates for clean water in third world countries.  Danielle Wright, 19, is an artist, a photographer and psychology student.  Kyle Jackson is at home in nature and a survivalist.  The Dyche family restored the Nina and brought her to many places so people all over the world could see the magnificent yacht which has won race after race.

The families say the Nina is floating because no wreckage was found; other sailors have been declared lost at sea and found; the Nina crew are experienced and managed rough weather many times; the Nina was in good condition; claims the Nina sank are based only on an inability to locate her.  That does not mean she sank.

Your call can make a difference.  U.S. Department of State:  (202)-647-4000

Suggested script:

"Hi, my name is __________________.  I am calling about the Nina 7.  That is the yacht that disappeared in the Tasman Sea with the seven sailors.  I am calling to urge the Department of State to support the Nina 7 and Texas Equusearch."

What else do you want to say?

Expect to get transferred a few times.  PLEASE DO LEAVE  A MESSAGE IF YOU END UP ON A MESSAGE PHONE.

If you don't call, who will?  If it was your son or mother, would you want others to call?

Your donation can make a difference.  A few dollars adds up.  Until we can get help from the U.S. the families continue to fund a very expensive search effort.  Will you give a couple of latte's to save seven lives?

Who are they?

Texas Equusearch Mobilizes

We really need your support.  The requests are sincere and urgent.  Because Americans respect the sanctity of life;  Because we would want the same if we were in the same place;  Because out of 100 people, 1 person will end up missing in the next 60 months;  Because America can do better; Because we love our country and we respect the technology that should be used to save lives; Because no one should block an effort to save lives;  Because America is founded on hope;  Because it is time for the sailors on the Nina to come home!

Rocking Rock Rock Steve Miller Band At Americas Cup

Maybe the Blues are the secret to the heart!  What could be better than the Steve Miller Band? How about the Steve Miller Band and the Doobie Brothers together! They performed live at the Americas cup pavilion on piers 27/29 on Friday, June 21st, 2013!

"Sailing on San Francisco Bay - and learning to sail in general - is easier and less expensive than you think. If you've found yourself gazing with envy at colorful spinnakers on our picturesque Bay, we hope you do yourself a favor and get out on the water now." says SailSFBay.

SailSFBay Youth Outreach Program was the recipient of the half buck per ticket charity fund-raiser. Miller, who moved to San Francisco 45 years ago, was able to return a little bit to the community which helped launch his career.

SailSFBay is an association of organizations and individuals dedicated to passing along the art and enthusiasm of the magic of sail.

The next show is scheduled for July 18th.  Counting Crows and the Wildflowers will be featured.  Based upon the full house screaming and singing to the Doobie Brothers and the Steve Miller Band, you might want to get your tickets darn soon!

The news just keeps getting better.  On Saturday, October 12th, 2013, the Avett Brothers will play at the America's Cup Pavilion.  Special guest stars will include the velvet voice of Nicholas David.

Lean on me, Brother!

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 28th!

Anyone who has been on a sailboat as she skims the water, dead to the noise of an engine, with only the power of the wind and the force of higher powers to whisk their craft along, can talk about the thrill of sailing.  But the magic of wind and sail are so grand, you have to live a trip over water to really understand.  SailSFBay can help you find a way into the sailing life.  There must be a 1000 reasons to learn how to sail.  Here are 48!  Be sure to look them up at your earliest convenience.

Sailing is the most fun you can have luffing wind!
